Have you ever needed to resize your NTFS partition? Here are some instructions.
- Download the SystemRescueCD ISO image (100 MB very useful softwares).
- Burn the ISO image to a CD.
- Boot from the CD and hit when you see the message "Boot:".
- Enter
run_qtparted when you get a command prompt.
- Select your disk on the graphical screen.
- Select your NTFS partition to be resized.
- Right click with the mouse and choose Resize.
- Set the new partition size.
- Commit your changes in the File -> Commit menu.
- If your keyboard and mouse stop responding during resizing then please just be patient.
Note: When we first attempted this on a Dell system the qtparted application did not see the drive. The fix was to get into the BIOS, access the Drives/SATA Operation section, and change the setting from Normal to Combination. |
