Dangerous Driver on Will Clayton, originally uploaded by gordyt.

Via Flickr:
I encountered a very dangerous driver at 06:14 this morning. I was travelling south on N. Houston. There was a school bus in front of me. We approached the intersection at Will Clayton. The school bus went into the left turn lane. I went into the right turn lane. This driver stayed in the middle lane. We had a red light and heavy traffic was passing through the intersection. This driver made an illegal right turn (from the middle lane) into the flow of traffic, almost causing an accident.

When the light turned green I also turned right onto Will Clayton. I continued to observe the driver making unsafe lane changes and aggressively tail-gating. When I had the accidental opportunity to come close to this vehicle, I took the picture.

I further observed this driver cut someone off in order to get onto the 59S access ramp.

I read an article here that contained a variety of quotes from President Obama regarding the senate voting against the proposed (unconstitutional) extensions to background checks. Here is the text of a letter that I just sent to the president:

  Dear President Obama,

I am dismayed by your public comments after the senate voted down proposed
extensions to background checks for gun buyers. Regarding these extensions
  you said:

"There were no coherent arguments as to why we wouldn't do this."

Actually sir, there are very good reasons for NOT doing this. One that I think
we call *all* agree on is that current laws are ALREADY not being enforced.
Of the very few legitimate denials that came out of the existing system,
there were even fewer arrests -- I'm talking single-digits here!

It is already a felony to lie on the form 4474 that must be filled out for
ALL gun purchases, with the exception of private transactions among
individuals. So why are we not prosecuting those individuals that lie in
an attempt to illegally purchase a firearm? That just does not make sense!

Instead of cultivate emotional responses to tragedy, why don't we apply our
God-given logic and reason to the very real problems of violence and mental
illness? Those are the real problems.

There should be NO infringements on the rights of law-abiding citizens to
  purchase and carry firearms. NONE!

Thank you for your time and attention.

  Respectfully,

  Gordon Tillman

Pennsylvania State Representative Daryl Metcalfe and 75 House Republicans sent the following letter to U.S. Senator Pat Toomey on 2013-04-09 (Tuesday):

The majority of state legislators in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives believe that the right to bear arms must be vigorously defended, as evidenced by the passage of Castle Doctrine (Act 10 of 2011). Here in Pennsylvania, we have a longstanding history in support of our God-given, constitutionally-affirmed Second Amendment freedom. We swore to uphold and defend both the Pennsylvania and United States Constitutions the day we took office. As Article 1, Section 21 of our state Constitution reads, ‘The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.’ We stand in defense of our Constitutions.

We write to you today to request that you stand with us. As part of our elected representation in Washington, D.C., we urge you to reject any compromise that would advance any new gun control measures, including ‘universal’ or ‘comprehensive’ background checks that are being advocated for by New York City Mayor Bloomberg, Obama, Biden, Senator Chuck Schumer or any other individuals seeking to violate the rights of law abiding citizens instead of stopping criminals. Our country does not need additional gun control laws from the federal or state levels of government. We should work to actively enforce our current laws; to stop those who are committing crimes against their fellow citizens.

In 2011, just in Pennsylvania alone, our citizens purchased over 600,000 firearms and our county sheriffs issued over 166,000 licenses to carry firearms, according to data from the Pennsylvania State Police. Meanwhile, crimes committed with firearms continue to decrease as issuance of licenses to carry firearms increases. Since 2006, Pennsylvania has seen an over 20 percent reduction in violent crimes committed with firearms. These statistics prove that an armed law abiding citizenry is the best deterrent to crime.

Enhanced gun control measures ultimately hinder the freedoms of law abiding citizens. As Benjamin Franklin once said, ‘Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.’

We encourage and expect you to stand with us to protect our God-given right to keep and bear arms.

At this point would anyone be surprised to find out the Bloomberg is a huge hypocrite — especially when it comes to his traitorous anti-rights efforts?

Here is an except from the Washington Times:

Bloggers are taking New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to task, accusing him
of hypocrisy for pushing strict gun control onto Americans but simultaneously
seeking gun-carry exemptions for his security detail when he travels to
Bermuda, where firearms are largely prohibited.

The New York Times first reported of this disparity in 2010, stating that the
mayor uses taxpayer dollars to pay for two armed city officers to accompany him
on get-away jaunts to Bermuda. But before he can fly them in, he has to obtain
special permission so they can keep their guns: Bermuda is so anti-gun that
even its own police force isn’t armed, The Times reported then.

Here is some interesting food for thought from Councilman Paul R. Beane of Lubbock, Texas. This was on KFYO radio on 1/24/2013:

Good afternoon, I'm Paul R. Beane and I'm your right wing gun nut.

You know me and fellow gun owners are responsible for all the carnage in our
streets and our schools. Never mind that Ted Kennedy's car has killed more
people than my entire collection of firearms. Most of which I have owned since
childhood when I saved my pennies and nickels in order to purchase them and
each and everyone is in perfect working order. It is the responsible gun owners
of today that is being blamed for all the shootings. Obama calls us the right
wing gun nuts, clinging to our guns and to our religion.

But lets take a little closer look. The Fort Hood shooter, a Muslim, and a
registered Democrat. The Virginia Tech shooter, he wrote hate mail to George
Bush and his staff and was a registered Democrat. Aurora Colorado shooter, he
was a staff worker on the Obama campaign and took part in Occupy Wall Street.
He was a progressive liberal and guess what? A registered Democrat. The
Newtown, Conn shooter hated Christians and was a registered Democrat. The
Columbine high school shooters were too young to vote, but both of their
families were progressive liberals and registered Democrats.

And one more thing, not a single one of these killers were members of the
National Rifle Association. So I have got it figured out how to make this
country much safer; leave the guns alone and lock up all the Democrats.

I'm Paul R. Beane and that's the way I see it

The following is from Alderman David Marston of Hudson, New York:

Dear Joanna Johnson-Smith,

Its really neat that all you gun toting tea party psychotards are so interested
in the goings on of our little City, even though I find it amazing that you
don’t have any other pressing issues before you in New Lebanon. On the other
hand, I guess its not surprising, considering you ideologues aren’t interested
in actual policy, but rather grandstanding on mythical narratives of
victimization.

Two things: The only spit here is the white stuff frothing on the ends of that
rotten little mouth of yours from which you spew this hateful ignorant trash.
And a donkeys behind? The rabid ignorance of the fringe is best illustrated by
its sad metaphors, I mean seriously, thank you for the laughs.

By all means, come on down, we’ll be happy to beat you barbarians back with the
clubs of reason & responsibility, radical lunatics that you are. And say, a
quick ProTip, since you’re the “organizer” for unemployed guns nuts USA. Next
time you think these unhinged rants will change the mind of anyone who has even
a modicum of intelligence, you might instead just go back down into your
basement & watch another episode of wheel-of-fortune. It’ll certainly be just
as effective. Remember: there are millions of Eagle Scout God Worshiping
Patriots who find you & your radical ilk as disgraceful to American Democracy
as the Brown Shirt jackboots you act like. I happen to be just one of them.
Good Luck.

Best Regards,
David Marston

I just emailed Mayor William H. Hallenbeck Jr. and recommended he do what he can to rid this city of this awful person.

So here’s the deal:

Our constitution enumerates a handful of basic human rights that we all share. It didn’t grant these rights — they are inalienable. The dictionary on my Mac defines that word to mean:

unable to be taken away from or given away by the possessor

One of the most basic of all human rights is the right to self-preservation or self-defense.

Well, apparently, the likes of Senators Chuck Schumer and Diane Feinstein do not believe these rights apply to you and me.

For example, both of them currently have (or had in the past), licenses to carry handguns:

Furthermore, even if they did not have carry permits, remember that you and I pay a lot of money to provide them with armed personal security guards.

Can you afford personal armed security? I surely cannot.

Folks, how can anyone support scum like this?
