I had to run a few errands during my lunch break today. As I was returning to the office I came across this. The driver of this truck apparently turned a bit too early into the Sonic parking lot.
“Blogging is to literacy as Face Book is to fucking.”
I just read the following in this article in the Los Angeles Times:
But the four dissenters faulted the majority for opening the door to legal challenges to various gun-control measures. Justice John Paul Stevens, speaking for the dissenters, said the 2nd Amendment “was adopted to protect the right of the people of each of the several states to maintain a well-regulated militia.”
The four dissenters object to the ruling because of the potential resulting legal challenges to other bad law? Excuse me? What are they afraid of? Isn’t about time we fix all of the shit that has been enacted ever since the absolutely disgraceful 1939 United States v. Miller decision?
For the love of God! I suppose these same for morons would have objected to Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka because of all of the lawsuits that were initiated as a result of that decision!
A friend of mine was robbed and shot only a few blocks from his home in Atascocita, Texas, on Friday. I don’t have much in the way of details yet. Just that the goblin was a young black man wielding a 9mm pistol.
Here is the general location where the attack occurred. The police have not caught the vermin who did this yet, so be vigilant!
A friend of mine emailed the following to me today.
In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1 981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.
It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender (involuntary buy back) 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in: List of 7 items:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.
Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent.
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY.
Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.
You won’t see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note my fellow Americans, before it’s too late!
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.
With guns, we are ‘citizens’.
Without them, we are ‘subjects’.
During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!
If you value your freedom, Please spread this anti-gun control message to all of your friends.
People ask me why I carry a 45 caliber. My answer . .. ‘Because they don’t make a 46 caliber!
The following is my interpretation, for what that is worth, of Texas Penal Code.
Summary
According to The Texas Statutes, Penal Code, a person who has a CHL and is carrying an authorized handgun can also carry a club or a knife (or a sword) that would otherwise be classified as an illegal knife.
Here are the applicable excerpts from the Penal Code:
§ 46.02. Unlawful Carrying Weapons
(a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his person a handgun, illegal knife, or club...
§ 46.01. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter:
(1) "Club" means an instrument that is specially
designed, made, or adapted for the purpose of inflicting
serious bodily injury or death by striking a person with the
instrument, and includes but is not limited to the
following:
(A) blackjack;
(B) nightstick;
(C) mace;
(D) tomahawk.
(5) "Handgun" means any firearm that is designed, made,
or adapted to be fired with one hand.
(6) "Illegal knife" means a:
(A) knife with a blade over five and one-half inches;
(B) hand instrument designed to cut or stab another by being thrown;
(C) dagger, including but not limited to a dirk, stilletto, and poniard;
(D) bowie knife;
(E) sword; or
(F) spear.
§ 46.15. Nonapplicability
(b) Section 46.02 does not apply to a person who:
(6) is carrying a concealed handgun and a valid
license issued under Subchapter H, Chapter 411,
Government Code, to carry a concealed handgun of the
same category as the handgun the person is carrying;
Comment
When you think about it, this makes perfect sense. If you are legally allowed to carry a firearm, and you are in a situation where it is legal to carry, who cares if you are also carrying something else that is classified as a weapon?
On the other hand, if you are not legally allowed to carry a firearm, or if you are in a situation where it is not legal to carry, you probably should not have other weapons on your person.
This morning, while washing parrot bowls, I heard a brief news article on KUHF concerning Joe Horn shooting two guys who were robbing a neighbor’s house in Pasadena, Texas.
Apparently there is some controversy about this. I really don’t understand why. There is no doubt of guilt or innocence … the criminals were shot in the act of committing a crime. There is no loss to society. Two criminals have been removed from the mix. That’s a good thing.
Nothing to see here folks. Move along.
Apparently, Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Year is w00t.
How utterly pathetic.
At approximately 07:55 this morning I observed a black Totota SUV speeding down our street. The female driver stopped at the day care center down from our house. The license number was BJW 192. I was able to look up all of the information about this vehicle and the owners on Public Data.com.
I will not post their information publicly, but I will say that the driver of that vehicle should be ashamed of herself. There are families with young children on our street. Children walk by themselves to the end of the block to meet the school bus. Family pets are roaming about.
This driver needs to get her ass out of bed early enough so that she can drop her child off at day care and get to work without endangering the lives of folks who are unlucky enough to live along her path.
