Expresso Book Machine
This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
Just finished reading a really interesting book called Moonwalking with Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering Everything. It was written by Joshua Foer and published in March, 2011 by Penguin Press.
Joshua — a man with an average memory — went on to win the U.S. Memory Championship. This book chronicles his path in an entertaining and informative way. Highly recommended.
Mikie and I got in 30 minutes of cardio at the Lifetime Fitness in Atascocita. We used the Octane Fitness elliptical machines. Good workout!
Today was a rest day. Work, usual stuff. Mikie and I ate dinner at Dos Gallos afte work. I was good (no booze!)
I got in a really great book today that I ordered from Amazon: Matplotlib for Python Developers, by Sandro Tosi. Very well written with just the right amount of detail.
Christopher McDougall, the author of Born to Run was featured at this Google talk:

My new coach has ordered me to start taking Monday’s completely off. I don’t know if I’m too keen on that but since today was really cold and rainy and generally gross, and since I am a bit sore from this weekend, I’m going to behave and do just that.
I’m reading a new (for me) book that is really interesting:
The author, Jillian Michales is one of the coaches on The Biggest Loser show. Her advice is sound and concise and backed by good science. Highly recommended!
I just finished reading this really cool book by Christopher McDougall:
I found out about it from this post on Barefoot Ted’s blog. It confirmed something I had intuitively begun to feel for quite some time. That is, pretty much everything we’ve been taught about running is wrong.
Running isn’t supposed to hurt. It’s not supposed to mess-up your knees. We, as humans, were designed to run. This book goes into all that and much more. Highly recommended.
Here are some titles on my recommended reading list for good web applications user interface design:
And if you find any treasures, please consider adding updates to this post with your recommendations.
I will be really glad when Adrian and Jacob’s new book is available.
