Apple Storage Order
I read here this morning that Apple just ordered 12 PB (Petabytes!) of storage from Isilon Systems, a division of EMC. Folks, a petabyte is a lot of storage. It is
10 ^ 15 bytes or
2 ^ 50 bytes, depending upon usage. The latter form is typically used in computer science circles, like when talking about RAM. To put it another way:
1 petabyte = 1000 terabytes 1 terabyte = 1000 gigabytes 1 gigabyte = 1000 megabytes 1 megabyte = 1000 kilobytes 1 kilobyte = 1000 bytes
